A v3 copilot might unexpectedly display the message "can't update Chromium":
What to do
If you or a driver see this message, press the button labeled "Reinstall Chromium" as seen in the photo above.
After doing so, you may subsequently see a splash screen for Chrome or Chromium, which is confirming its successful reinstallation:
You need do nothing else, and the message should not reappear on this copilot for several years.
These messages relate to the Chrome/Chromium web browser, which is built in to the copilot as part of its Android operating system. We customize them such that operating system details do not regularly peek out and distract drivers.
In the case of v3 attendants, we were unable to fully disable the web browser's update pop up. We were able to do the next best thing, which is to set the frequency of its appearance to once every several years. We apologize that it is not entirely disabled, but once "update Chromium" has been pushed, you will not see this pop up on this copilot for another several years.
v4 copilots have a number of improvements, one of them being that the web browser's pop up is entirely disabled.
