Freeze a Route or Stop from Data Import Changes

You might want to ensure that future data imports do not change a particular route or a stop. To do this, open the Routes page in the Route Management section of the dashboard. Click the desired route (or the route that contains the desired stop), which will open for editing:

Freeze the route

To freeze the entire route, check the checkbox that reads “freeze this route from data import changes”. Subsequent data imports will skip over this route, freezing all stops and students in it from any change.

Freeze a stop

To freeze a stop in the route, click on "click to edit stops". There, select the “stops” tab if it isn't already selected. Among the controls you will see two relevant checkboxes:

1. Prevent all changes from data import. This freezes the stop from any changes whatsoever and prevents its deletion.
2. Prevent GPS location changes from data import. This keeps the stop location fixed but allows other changes.
   

Unless you have reason to do otherwise, we recommend the second option. The first option has been known to cause confusion as to why a stop looks different in Transportant from what it is on the original data source. 

One example of when you might use the second option is if you have a drop-off location that you would like to freeze at the back entrance of a school rather than the front that had been getting changed every night with imports.
