Route Creation with Learn Mode

Route Creation with Learn Mode

Learn mode is a way to define your routes in the system when you do not have routing software. The concept is simple. As your driver drives a route, he or she will use a student bus pass, such as a fob, at every stop. By having the bus in learn mode and scanning the bus pass, the stop location and times are recorded so that the routes can be uploaded and then verified. Some benefits of route tracing include creating routes, preparing for student ridership, and showing drivers how Transportant technology helps them drive their bus safer and more efficiently.

How To Create a Route Using Learn Mode

  1. Ask Transportant staff, at support@transportant.com, to place one or more of your buses in learn mode.
  2. If you haven't already, issue bus passes to the drivers of those buses.
  3. Instruct drivers to make every stop, even if no students are getting on or off there that day. At each stop, the driver will scan the bus pass, which documents the stop in the system.
For best results, the route should be run in learn mode for at least a week.

Creating the Route

The system will provide route suggestions, including documenting stops not in the system. Once the process begins, review and add information daily to the route data. Keep the route names identified as learn mode as in:

When you are satisfied with your route, copy it and rename it with the correct name, and ask Transportant staff to turn off learn mode.
