Ridership Tracking at Stops

Ridership Tracking at Stops

Ridership Tracking Basics

Once the Stops screen pops up, students can be tapped on and off the bus. How this is done is up to your school district. Many districts have students scan on with a bus pass. This can be an RFID card or fob, or a card or sticker that has a barcode, QR code, or RFID chip. These are read by an RFID reader or code scanner plugged in to the copilot. Other districts have a ten key pad plugged in to the copilot, and students enter their student or lunch code. Additionally, students can also be loaded on the bus manually by tapping the student’s icon on the CoPilot screen.
As students tap on or off, you can see the number of students on the bus changes in the top right corner of the screen.

If a student from another stop is at the current stop you will need to tap them on the bus manually. Click the drop-down stops (Labeled DS0 - 4601 NW Redwood in the screenshot above), select the stop the student is from, then tap the student on the bus. The “All Students” will only be students assigned to this route. They will be labeled, “On Board”, “To Pick Up”, and “To Drop Off” depending on what the student is assigned to do next.
Continue these steps for each stop.
The stop time schedule for your current stop is to the right of DS0 - 4601 NW Redwood (6:30PM in the example above). The time you are to arrive at the next stop is in the upper right corner next to the screen brightness adjuster.

Scheduled Stop Times

You can see all the scheduled stop times for your route in one tab. When your bus is stopped and on the stop screen, click the dropdown next to “Select a stop” in the screenshot below.

Identifying Students Grades - Kindergarten and Younger

Your CoPilots will have Kindergarten students and younger highlighted in green, as shown in the CoPilot screenshot above. This will allow your drivers to have better identification of your youngsters and ensure they are exiting the bus in a safe manner. If you have students that should be highlighted in green that are not, contact your team to let them know that the student's grade is not showing up accurately on the CoPilot. This will need to be fixed on the Transportant dashboard or through the school’s SIS system.

Wrong-Stop Notifications

Below is a screenshot of a "Wrong Stop" notification on the CoPilot. Either this student is getting on the wrong bus, or according to the dashboard, an incorrect stop on the route. In order to mark that student "on" the bus, the driver must click "accept". Otherwise, the student is not considered loaded on the bus. When accepted on the bus, the "on bus" count in the upper right corner of the CoPilot will update.
