App Display Options
Transportant has provided various options to display information on the Bus Compass app. The following are the items that you can configure for parents and guardians to see:
Feature | Options | Notes |
Bus visibility | Base case: Bus is visible within a set distance from the bus stop. This is normally one mile but is configurable. Option: The distance from the stop can be set to the point where the bus is visible during the entire route for the guardians and students on that route. | It is recommended that the visibility of the bus location be limited to a defined range from the bus stop. This protects the location of the bus outside the defined radius otherwise. The schools can configure this should they want greater or lesser visibility. |
Route visibility | Base Case: The bus route is not visible to guardians and students. See figure 1. Option: Schools can elect to show the entire bus route and bus stops on Bus Compass as an overlay. See figure 2. | Showing the route has
advantages and disadvantages.
It would allow students to go to a later stop if they
missed the bus. They can also
see the route a bus must go in
case it is physically close but
needs to go to other stops.
Visibility of all stops may be
considered a security risk, and a
school should understand this if
they elect to turn it on.
