Camera Roles

Camera Roles

You can assign specific roles to your cameras to optimize how they function in your fleet.

Available Roles

Dash Camera

This role disables the camera's infrared lights. By turning them off, glare from the windshield is reduced when the camera is used as a dash cam facing the windshield.

Driver Facing Camera

It does not do anything yet, but this role is for a new feature coming soon.

Stop Arm Camera

This role adjusts the camera's settings when the stop arm is deployed. When the arm is extended, the camera's bitrate is increased to better capture stop arm violations and surrounding activity. When the arm is stowed, the camera's bitrate is returned to normal to not fill up the attendant's storage with needlessly large video files.

How To Assign Roles

On the main page of the dashboard, find the Device Management section. There, click on Cameras:
Click the checkbox on the left hand side of the camera you would like to assign a role to:
If you like, you can click the checkboxes of multiple cameras here, to configure them all at once.
Click the Camera Type drop down selection box in the panel on the right, and there select the desired role. And with that you are done.
