Remove All Bus Passes (Fobs) From the System
Overview
There may be times when your district needs to remove all student bus passes (such as fobs, RFID cards, or barcodes) from the Transportant system — for example, at the end of the school year, or when resetting your database before summer school begins.
This guide walks you through the recommended process to remove all bus pass assignments from the system.
Steps to Remove All Bus Passes
1. Prepare a Clean `fobs.csv` File
Create a new
fobs.csv file that includes all students currently in your system, but leaves the "fob_number" field blank for each student except one.
⚠️ Important: The system includes a failsafe that prevents fob removal if all `fob_number` values are blank.
You must include at least one valid fob_number in the file, assigned to any student, in order for the import to process correctly and remove the others.
The file should contain only the following two columns:
Field Name | Description |
student_id | |
fob_number | Leave blank for all but one student |
Example:
- student_id,fob_number
- 12345,
- 67890,
- 54321,00000000123
1. On the Transportant dashboard, click the
Data Import tile.
2. Click the blue "+" button in the top right corner.
3. Select "Full Import".
4. Choose "fobs.csv" as the file type.
5. Attach your updated fobs.csv file.
6. Click Upload.
📝 A Full Import will overwrite existing fob data and remove any fob numbers not present in the file. Since all but one are blank, this will remove all currently assigned bus passes except the one included.
3. Confirm the Import Was Successful
- After uploading, you’ll see a status message confirming whether the import succeeded.
- Click on the import entry to view any warnings or errors.
- To verify, open the Students tile and check that the Key Fob Number column is empty for all but the one student.
Tips & Best Practices
- Back up your current fobs.csv file before performing a full import.
- Ensure the student_id values match those in your existing students.csv file.
- Leave the fob_number field blank for all students except one, as described above.
- Do not remove the fob_number column—just leave it empty as needed.
