Ignition Sensor Always On
Explanation
The attendant is often reading that the vehicle ignition is on all day, instead of turning on and off as the vehicle's engine is turned on and off. This often means that the attendant's ignition sensor is accidentally connected to the battery instead of the ignition.
Effect
- The Transportant equipment might never shut down. This could drain the bus's battery.
- Video recording might never stop. That would fill the available video storage space and decrease video retention.
- There may be intermittent Ethernet disconnect alerts on the copilot and cameras for no obvious reason that defies normal troubleshooting. That in turn may cause copilot unreliability or video offloading difficulties.
Next steps
Check the connections in the side panel of the bus to ensure that battery and ignition are tied to the appropriate keyed terminals. You will likely find them reversed, in which case switching them ought to resolve the problem.
Check fixes
This alert, like most, is calculated on a rolling average, so even after correcting the problem the alert will remain visible for a few days. However, by clicking through to the detail page as seen above, you can see if you have successfully fixed the problem.
