A copilot should not spontaneously reboot. If it does, here is how to fix it.
How to fix it
Try the following, in order, stopping after each step to see if that fixed it:
- Notice if the reboots associated with other electrical accessories. For example, the copilot reboots when the horn is used, or when a specific air conditioner unit is switched on or off. If that is the case, see Power Input Troubleshooting of Copilot Reboots.
- Inspect the copilot's physical buttons. Sometimes a button gets stuck, which can cause rebooting. If you find a stuck button, try to gently work it free. If you cannot work it free, replace the copilot with a spare (see below).
- Unplug the copilot's cable from the attendant. Plug it in to a different port, but one of the four rightmost ports. (The four rightmost ports provide more power than the others, to provide all the power that a copilot needs.) As you plug it in, confirm you can feel and hear the cable snugly click into place, and that one green and one orange light on the port comes on and stays on.
- Unplug the copilot's cable from the copilot, and plug it back in. As before, confirm you can feel and hear the cable snugly click into place, and that the expected lights on the port come on and stay on.
- If this is a version 4 copilot plugged in to a version 3 attendant, consider a power adapter. If you aren't sure what version the attendant is, see attendant versions.
- Replace the cable with a known good one. If that fixes the problem, destroy and discard the original cable.
If none of the above stops the rebooting, replace the copilot with a spare.
